I am delighted that “Skeptical”, my first Timber Wolf painting, won a 2nd Place award in the Wet Medium category at the 2019 Fall Roundup Competition hosted by the Western Art Rodeo Association.
Look how much “Bobby The Bold” has grown in a month! I have no idea where the hoof came from…
The painting of "Karlee", a local barrel racer, has won an honourable mention in the "O Canada!" exhibition at the Federation Gallery in Vancouver, B.C. The exhibition runs from July 1st to 18th, so I hope you can catch it.
I had a lovely time today playing with Bella, the wise Andalusian mare. Her eye is so bright and alive and she was mentally present for every minute of our session together. She had a lovely long stride and a beautiful bend in her ribs today. I love it!
I finished this painting “On the Prowl” tonight. It is the third wolf painting in the series and I am getting the hang of the way the wolf’s hair lies in it’s thick winter coat. The winter sun was low in the sky, giving the wolf a lovely golden glow. The grasses were a challenge but I like the texture as a contrast to the wolf.
2 of the 3 fox cubs were out playing this evening. If I stand quietly they will get quite bold and frolic about as if I were not even there. I see some fox paintings in my future!
I added the suggestion of a spruce tree on the left edge as there was too much black space. Now I think “Tracking” is finished. The Mongolian wolf is smaller, more red and a little “foxier” than the Timber wolves I have been painting.
